TerraFly analysis of the impact of Hurricane Andrew on the real estate in South Florida. The distance property is the distance away from the path of Hurricane Andrew. The change rate is a similar rate to the previous analysis with the real estate values (median sale prices per sq. ft. within a given real estate category, such as single family homes) before and after the hurricane. The Global Moran's I indicates that there is some correlation between distance and the change rate. We see that as the distance from the hurricane decreases, the change increases (scatterplot more disperse), but at a greater distance from the hurricane the change becomes less (closer to the line). On the TerraFly Map, the blue polygons are areas which were closer to the hurricane and had a surrounding area with negative change rate. The red polygons were further from the hurricane and had the surrounding area with a positive change rate. While the light blue polygons were closer to the hurricane but the surrounding area was a positive change rate. Finally, the light red polygons were further from the Hurricane but the negative surrounding area was negative. Updated 2016-12-15.12:33
