The FIU College of Engineering and Computing, in collaboration with philanthropic and industrial partners, is setting up a Center of Aging in Place (CAiP) at the new Innovation Complex at FIU. The Center will focus on R&D for AI-driven technologies to assist the elderly staying at home rather than moving to nursing homes. CAiP is a joint venture between FIU and The Brain Center Foundation.
The CAiP Founding Team is in discussions with BioHome, led by Dr. Brian Arwari, to plan joint projects. In particular, the BioHome Dynamometer transmits the patient's grip strength for AI-powered remote monitoring of the patient's agility and adherence to the prescribed regimen.
